Easy Ways to Relieve Headaches

Everyone has experienced a headache at least once.  The pain is felt either in the head and/or the neck. The pain at times can be mild but there are also times that the pain is excruciating and light itself causes it to be worst.  There are times that the pain is so severe that light and noise can actually make it worst.

It can cause a person to be irritable or angry.  Sometimes they are so bad that they can cause nausea, vomiting. There are different types of headaches, such as migraines, cluster headaches, sinus headaches or hormonal.

These are just to name a few. When these headaches occur, if they are mild, they can go away on their own but that is not always the case.  Depending on the type of headache and how bad it is, you might have to try different ways to help you get rid of them.

LIE DOWN/CLOSE YOUR EYES

When the headaches are caused by tension, the best thing to do is stop what you are doing.  If you are home, lie down, close your eyes and relax.  If you are at work, then just sit back, close the eyes and relax.  At times all you might need to do is calm down and it can make your headache go away.

MASSAGE

You can massage your headache away.  Dim the lights and massage your scalp back and forth.  You can also rub your neck.  The purpose of this is to relax those muscles, relieving the tension and getting rid of the pain.

CAFFEINE

There are many that will tell you all they need is caffeine.  Caffeine can constrict the blood vessels in your brain, this helps end headaches quickly.  Drink a cup of coffee or a cola, the caffeine will do wonders.

POSTURE

Simply fix your posture and you can get rid of or prevent headaches.  Slouching for hours can leave your neck and upper body stiff and tense.  Hold our head up straight and don’t slump forward when you are either standing or on the computer.

ICE

To make the blood pump faster and get that blood flowing use an ice pack.  It will ease the pain, help relax and take away the pressure.

PATCHES

For those headaches that are due to monthly hormonal fluctuations, ask your gynecologist to give you a patch or gel to use during your PMS week.

WATER/ASPIRIN

At times headaches can be a sign of dehydration so drink plenty of water.  Also, when nothing else works, take aspirin, especially those that mention migraine headaches.
