School is almost out and summer is knocking on your door. This is the time of year everyone looks forward to; especially kids since this mean no school for the next three months.
Most families have a vacation planned during this time but it’s only for a week or two.
After that, what will they do? Kids may have plenty of video games to keep them busy or they could also watch television. Problem is that it’s not the best way for them to spend their summer.
They need more than that. They need to go out and have fun. Of course, money is the issue always, especially lately but there are activities the kids can do that won’t cost you an arm and a leg.
Fishing
Many states and county parks will teach kids to fish for free. You can purchase fishing equipment at any store at a very low price. If you want to make it even more memorable, take a day and spend it with them. It’s even better when you teach them how to fish, great way to create lasting and wonderful memories.
Bowling
A good and inexpensive activity is bowling. You can go to www.kidsbowlfree.com and print coupons for free bowling throughout the summer. Bowling alleys across the country participate. They also have “kids club” meals during this time. Get a few of the other parents to sign up and maybe the kids can go as groups.
Summer Camp
Consider enrolling them in summer camp. In summer camp they will go on hikes, camping, fishing, etc. They will also learn arts and crafts. While in camp they will meet old friends and make new friends. This will keep them busy and they will have great memories of their summer.
Dollar Day
Many theatres offer a summer deal that is great for kids. They offer a one dollar movie every day of the week or at least one day a week. Kids get to enjoy some of their favorite movies.
Library
Visiting the library is a great idea. They can attend story time which can get them very interested in reading. They can check out books or movies.
Farms
Check local farms near your area. Many offer activities for kids, such as hay rides, petting zoo, and horseback riding. At some of them you can also pick fruits that are in season. This gives the kids a chance to get back to nature.
