Healthy Breakfasts that Slim and Energize

The most important meal of the day is breakfast, yet most of us run out the door and skip that meal.

  Skipping breakfast has consequences. You are either sluggish all day, munching continuously and if you’re trying to lose weight, you don’t lose one pound.

The body needs energy, especially in the morning to get it working and moving.

It’s time you got back into the habit of having breakfast everyday.

Those that do have more energy, consume less calories, flatter abs and lower risk of heart disease.  To keep your energy up and weight down, make sure to consume calcium rich mix of whole grains, protein and fruit. Don’t be afraid to add eggs to your breakfast on a daily basis. Many believe that it’s harmful so they stay away from it.

Well researchers found that you can eat three eggs a day without raising the bad cholesterol, LDL.  So starting now, make sure to eat your breakfast, best way to slim down or keep the weight off.  Below are some quick tips for breakfast and they are about 350 calories.

Apricot, Almond and Ricotta Toast

On two slices of whole wheat toast, spread 2 tbsp part skim ricotta and 1 tsp apricot preserves on each slice, then top each slice with 1 ½ tsp of sliced almonds.

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich

Starbuck’s has a breakfast sandwich with reduced fat turkey bacon and egg whites.  Easy enough just pick it up and go.

Cherry Vanilla Almond Smoothie

Not too much to this, blend together 1 cup of frozen cherries, half a medium banana, 1 cup skim milk, ½ cup plain nonfat yogurt and 1 tbsp of sliced almonds.  To make it frothy add a few ice cubes.  Sip it on your way to work.

Breakfast Burrito

Purchase the Amy’s breakfast burrito.  Cook 1 burrito as directed on the package, top with 2 tbsp plain nonfat yogurt.  Serve with an orange and breakfast is done.

Strawberry Almond Oatmeal

For those that love oatmeal but not plain, do the following.  Prepare 1 packet of instant plain oatmeal with ½ cup of skim milk instead of water.  Top it off with ¾ cup frozen strawberries thawed and add 2 tbsp of sliced almonds with a teaspoon of brown sugar.  This is a perfect breakfast, sweet, healthy and delicious.

Peanut Butter Waffle-wich

For the weekends, try this since you may have a little extra time.  Top one toasted whole grain waffle with 2 tsp of peanut butter, 2/3 cup sliced apples and sprinkle a little cinnamon on it.  Top it with another whole grain waffle.   Serve it with Café au lait made with 4 oz of coffee mixed with 4 oz of steamed skim milk.  Enjoy and savor it, it’s only around 350 calories.
