How to Prevent Autoimmune Disorders

An autoimmune disorder is a condition that occurs when the immune system mistakenly destroys and attacks healthy tissue.

This condition can cause such diseases as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and multiple sclerosis.  In actuality there are more than 80 different types of autoimmune disorders.

This these types of conditions have doubled in the last few years and three out of four who suffer from this condition are women.

The cause of this disorder is that the immune system can’t tell the difference between healthy tissues and antigens.    Fortunately researches have found easy ways to protect your immune system and help you feel great always.

Healthy Oils

Just by adding 1 oz of extra virgin olive oil to your daily menu, along with three servings of fatty fish a week can help shut down chronic inflammation in just two weeks.  For those that suffer from inflammation, keeping it low can prevent these illnesses.  If you don’t enjoy eating fish then take a fish oil supplement of 1,000 mg daily and this will do the trick.

Tea

A powerful antioxidant is Green tea.  Researchers suggest that sipping three cups of tea daily can cut in half the risk of certain autoimmune diseases.

Zinc

Taking 15 mg of zinc daily, the amount found in most multivitamins, can cut the risk of one of the most common autoimmune disorders, rheumatoid arthritis.  The mineral helps cells focus on destroying invading germs instead of damaging joint tissue.  For those that do not like taking any types of pills then eat at least 4 oz of poultry, beef or pork daily.

Oranges

Vitamin C from citrus cuts a woman’s risk of several autoimmune illnesses by more than 25%.  The C comes paired with bioflavonoid and these nutrients help prevent free radicals from damaging immune cells.   If you already suffer from an autoimmune disease, then making sure you Vitamin C levels are normal or high will help slow the progress of the disease.

Stop smoking

It is known that smoking causes cancer but it also can cause other illnesses.  Researchers show that if smoking for 20 years or more can raise a woman’s risk of suffering from autoimmune disorders by over 35%.  The toxin in cigarette smoke confuses and sabotages the immune system.

Herbs

There are many herbs that can be used to cleanse the blood and act as natural anti-inflammatory for your muscles.  You can use such herbs as Ginger, Claw, Turmeric, Yucca, Sarsaparillas and Yarrow.  These herbs are 100% natural and gentle.
