How to Understand Your Body

Men have no problems whatsoever in accepting and embracing all their bodily functions. What we find foul, bad or disgusting, they embrace as part of their bodily functions. They can talk amongst themselves or to a doctor and ask questions.

It’s no big deal; it’s their body talking to them. Not women, we just can’t deal with and find it awkward to talk about it. Even when we go to the doctor’s office, we just can’t seem to bring up these questions. It’s as though we believe we should not suffer from any weird or odd conditions.

God forbid a woman is flatulent, that is just not possible. If she has hair all over and in places there shouldn’t be any. Women go on without asking questions and that is not a good thing. All these things that our body does are normal but if they are excessive then something is wrong. We have to get past that barrier and ask questions, especially to our doctors, that is what they are here for, to help us.

PASSING GAS

It’s hard to admit for a woman that she passes gas.  Especially since men have this crazy notion that women don’t do this.  Well, they do and more than you think.  It is natural to pass gas and everyone does this at least 12 times in one day.  Of course, if you do it more than that, there is a problem.  It could be due to what we drink or eat, especially if consumed too quickly.  If it smells quite a bit then this is due to the digestion process by passing bacteria in the colon.  You could be eating too much fiber.  When you see your doctor, ask him, don’t feel embarrassed.  It could be a simple answer as those listed here.  If it’s something serious then your physician can help you.  Remember, your body may be trying to tell you that something is not right and you need attention.

HAIR

Women are constantly spending money on waxing, plucking, shaving products or laser hair removal.  There are just some places women feel they should not have hair.  Well, instead of just getting rid of that hair every other day or so, why not ask your doctor about this odd hair growth.  You might think it’s not a problem, it’s just hair.  That’s not true at all.  It could be a sign of hormonal problems and when hormonal problems are not taken care of there could be other complications.  Hormone problems can lead to infertility, obesity, acne and prolonged menstrual cycles.  This can eventually cause serious problems like diabetes, heart disease and stroke.

BOWEL MOVEMENTS

Who likes talking about this?  Really, it’s not the easiest topic to bring up.  Excuse me doctor but I have a question, is it normal to have frequent bowel movements and that it smells too?  Just thinking about this question probably makes you blush.  No way are you going to ask such an embarrassing question.  Well, you should ask.  It’s normal to have bowel movement that is natural.  You can have one or two a day.  Now if you suffer from constipation, diarrhea or can’t seem to control your bowel movements, there is definitely a problem.  Some medicines can aggravate the condition.  Stress can cause many problems to your intestines causing you to go more often or not at all.  Ask, you will be happy you did.

PAINFUL INTERCOURSE

Intercourse should be pleasurable for both, something the couple enjoys.  But if you are uncomfortable during sex and suffer from pain, this may be a sign of a more seriuos problem.  To clear things up, it’s not usually the size of the man’s penis.  The women are set up to hold a wide range of sizes.  It could be you are not lubricated enough.  Always keep some lubrication handy just in case this happens.  Maybe the positions you and your partner are doing can be affecting you. Again, there could be other reasons that you can’t imagine.  If the problem persists, ask, take care of yourself, and don’t let too much time go by.

BAD BREATH

Okay, you brush your teeth day and night.  You use mouthwash, floss after every meal and suck on mints.  Yet your partner or friend tells you that you have bad breath.  Well again, it could be what you ate.  Certain foods like fish, garlic and onions have strong scents and when you eat these, the scent can linger for quite a while.  Smoking can lead to gum disease.  Many of us don't of this, a sinus infection can cause you to have bad breath.  Don’t forget if you are doing an extreme diet or fasting, since you have not eaten, this will make your breath smell.  As always, keep brushing and flossing but in addition to this, when you can, chew on some parsley.  This can actually neutralize bad breath.

SWEATING

How awful it is to get dressed and start sweating for no apparent reason.  It’s not hot outside, the ac is on and yet you are sweating like a pig.  Well, it could be due to the type of clothing you wear, it doesn’t let your body breathe.  Maybe it’s the antiperspirant; you might need a stronger one or switch from your usual brand.  If after doing a few different things to stop the sweating doesn’t work, talk to your physician.  There may be a more serious problem such as hyperhidrosis. According to the physicians it can be taken care of by minimally invasive procedure which will basically snip the nerves that cause sweating.  Whatever the problem may be, your physician will find an answer for you.

VAGINAL DISCHARGE

This is right up there with farting and bowel movements.  This can be an uncomfortable question to ask but don’t avoid asking it if you find that your discharge is of an odd color.  The discharge can actually be a warning sign and you may be able to prevent a more serious condition in the future by just asking your doctor the right question.  It is normal to have discharge but when it is an odd color (such as green or yellow), has an odd odor or texture there is most likely a problem.

Your doctor can do a few different tests and in the end prescribe medication to help you out.  Don’t wait until it’s too late, it can be a sign of a more serious problem such as a venereal disease.  Don’t douche, this usually just dries you up and the flowery scents will cause an infection.
