Male Infertility Remedies

When a couple decides to have a child and try for several months or years, many automatically assume that the problem lies with the woman. That she has some type of health problem that is preventing her from conceiving.

In reality, doctors have found that one third of the cases are attributed to women, one third the male and the remaining one third is due to both partners. After a couple has tried for a while to conceive and have had no luck, they decide it’s time to visit a fertility specialist.

For most couples, the first one to go the doctor is the woman. When she visits the doctor, there are various tests they put her through.  Some of these tests are uncomfortable and painful. After the tests are completed, they find she is fine and that there is no reason why she can’t conceive. At this point, they request the man to provide a sperm sample.  They will do a sperm analysis and check their sperm count.  If their sperm count is normal, the doctor may want to perform other tests. Now, yes the tests may be uncomfortable, but to a man, it’s actually more a problem with the ego.

This is not something they should worry about, many men go through this and it doesn’t, in any way, diminish their masculinity. The purpose of these tests is to help the couple in conceiving a child, finding out what the problem may be. Now, for those men that just don’t want to go through this just yet, there are things they can do to help remedy their problem.  It may not always work but it doesn’t hurt to try.

ALCOHOL

You don’t have to stop drinking alcohol but you do have to limit the amount you consume.  Researchers found that men who drink excessive amounts of alcohol actually impair their fertility.  When they drink too much it affects their liver, it can actually damage it.  If the man has liver damage, the estrogen levels will rise and that will impair the sperm production.

HEAT

Doctors found that intense heat can actually kill the sperm in the man’s testes.  This is why they suggest that if the couple is trying to conceive, the man refrain from sitting in hot tubs, hot baths or use laptops on their laps.  At times, some doctors will actually request that the man use ice packs at some point in the day in the groin area to help raise the sperm count.

CONDOMS

If you are a single man and wish to have children some day, you might want to think about using a condom every time you have sex.  Certain transmitted diseases can actually kill your chances of ever having a child.  Diseases such as Chlamydia and gonorrhea can actually cause infertility.  These illnesses don’t have any symptoms and by the time you find out, you could be sterile.  It’s better to be safe than sorry, of course, the best way to prevent any type of STD is to abstain from intercourse.

HELLO BOXERS

Briefs are too tight and actually raise the temperature of testicles and can actually decrease the chances of fertilizing an egg.  If they wear loose or baggy underwear, this allows the testicles to breathe and keep them a little cooler.  If you are home, and it’s just the two of you, just walk around in your boxers.  As they say, let them be free, this will increase your sperm count.

FRUITS AND VEGGIES

Just as women, men need to add more fruits and vegetables to their diet.  Adding this to your daily diet will actually help increase and promote healthy sperm.  This is due to the antioxidants, vitamin C, beta-carotene, and vitamin E which benefit the sperm in men, especially those that smoke or are avid exercisers.  This helps neutralize the high level of free radicals in their body that tend to kill healthy sperm.

DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS

There are many supplements in the market today that can help men with low sperm count.  They should contain L-carnitine and acetyl-L-carnitine.  These two components help in the maturation, development and maintenance of the sperm.  One highly recommended supplement by doctors is Proxeed.

TAKE A BREATHER

Couples believe that the more they have intercourse the better the chances of conceiving.  Unfortunately this is not the case, every time the man ejaculates his sperm count is goes lower and lower.  Once a man has ejaculated he should wait at least 48 hours that is how long it takes for his sperm count to get back to normal.  When the couples are trying to conceive and are having difficulty, the best thing they can do is time their love making.  It’s true it sounds a little boring but it’s the best idea.

She should know when she is ovulation and the sex will have to be scheduled.  If they ovulate on the 16th then they should have intercourse on the 12th, 14th and then on the 16th.  Since ovulation day was the 16th, after that day, they can have intercourse every day after that for a few days, if they have the energy.
These few tips can also be done while you are seeing a fertility specialist.  Many men have found this to work and the couples have been successful at conceiving. Above and beyond all of this, what is most important is that the couple is patient and understanding of each other.  No matter how frustrating the situation, they should never play the blame game.  You may already be stressed and blaming each other will only make it worse.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when a couple is trying so hard to have a child, it can actually lessen the chances of conceiving.  The bodies are so stressed that they just can’t function properly.  So, knowing this, don’t ever forget the love you have for each other.  Also, when you go through all this, your lovemaking at times is scheduled and becomes boring.  Always make it romantic and fun, this will increase your chances and bring you even closer to each other.
