Start a Business During Recession

During a recession, people put their dream of opening a business away. Since the economy is so bad, there is no way they can open up a business without it going under.

We believe this because during the recessions, you see companies go bankrupt and/or go completely out of business.

But as they say, when one door closes another one opens. Recession is followed by growth, which last for over 4 years or so.

Due to this, it is the best time to start your own business. If you wait too long you will miss your opportunity to make your dream come true. Due to the recession everything is in your favor, costs are down, allowing you to open a business for less than you would when the economy is doing well.

If you look into the past of some business that still exist today, they began during recessions and when the economy recuperated, they grew with it. You can't put if off the idea of opening your buisness forever. There is never a time that risk is not involved. If you are waiting for that to happen you will never open that business.

Take the risk, do a business plan and stick to it.

TAX INCENTIVES

During these times to keep businesses going, tax incentives are offered. This helps you keep your business running and allowing you to grow as a business. This can help you compete with bigger companies.

CREDIT

Suppliers are actually offering better credits to their buyers. This keeps them and you in business. They offer special incentives when paying off your debt. This helps you purchase the items you need and able to make a little money before paying the your invoices. You will be able to make good deals with the suppliers. They, at this point, are willing to do anything to keep the cash flow going.

AUCTIONS

You can purchase just about anything you may need to start your business. Auctions are constantly going on and they are selling everything, such as office furniture, large equipments, vehicles, computers, etc. Also for those businesses that closed down, they are also auctioning off inventory. No matter what you need you will find it at a lower cost allowing you to have more money left over for other business expenses.

BETTER DEALS

Everything is so much cheaper during the recession. If you are interested in purchasing new items, they will cost less during the recession. Not only that, but the real estate market is down too so you will be able to find office space, land, warehouses, whatever you need at a lower cost. There are actually commercial real estate owners that offer you a space at a lower cost but also offer you incentives. They will offer you free months’ rent, something that you rarely ever see for commercial leasing.

EMPLOYEES

These are hard times and there are people that have been laid off from major companies with lots of experience. During this time you will be able to find better qualified people to fill any available position.

UNEMPLOYED

This is the best time to start the business you have wanted for a long time. You have the time and right now everything is in your favor. It’s not a bad position to be in; you have just been given the opportunity you needed. Most business owners began their companies while unemployed. They will tell you, it was the smartest thing they ever did. They had more time to dedicate to their business plans.

ADVERTISING

You have more ways right now to advertise than you would have had maybe a year ago. You have the newspaper, internet, radio, etc looking for business that will advertise. Everyone needs cash flow and these are the times to get the better deals. You will have more air time, more space in the newspaper, lower cost to advertise on the internet.

Another thing to keep in mind, family and friends are probably going through hard times too and afraid of not having enough cash flow to keep up with their debts. They are more willing to invest in a small business then in the actual stock market. So, sit down, write down your business plan. Make sure it is a good and solid plan. Make sure to show what your short term and long term goals are. This way they will have no doubts of what they want to do.

Basically, for those who wish to start a business, the world is truly at your fingertips. You will save the most money now on everything you decide to purchase, rent, or lease. Once the economy starts to grow, you will grow with it and never regret starting your business during a time many people won’t even consider it, during the recession.
