We are use to commons signs of stress, such as high blood pressure, irritability, ulcers or just pure frustration.
By the time we notice these signs, our situation is pretty bad. Stress is so dangerous in every level. It can cause severe health problems and since it affects your blood pressure, it can cause also cause heart attacks.
When we are at this point we figure it’s time to take a break, relax but at times it can be too late because the damage has been done. Now we can put a stop to stress before it gets out of hand, just by paying attention to the messages our bodies are giving us. These signs will give you a heads up to your condition and enough time to reverse it.
Cavities
Lack of dental hygiene is not the only way cavities will appear. One of the symptoms of stress is grinding your teeth. When we grind our teeth it erodes our dental work and damages our teeth, making them vulnerable to cavities. It is suggested that we set time aside to sit down and write down what is bothering us, a way to redirect our anxiety and reduce our stress level. This will help you stop grinding your teeth.
Sleepiness
When you are stressed, you don’t sleep well. Either you sleep too much or not enough. At times, even if you sleep a good eight hours, you wake up irritable and even more tired then when you went to bed. Stress hormones cause our bodies to surge with adrenaline and then it crashes. Ways to alleviate this problem is to go to sleep early or take a 30 minute day nap and don’t feel guilty, your body needs this. This will help you relax, get more focused and feel more productive.
Neck Pain
Normally when you start feeling that pain in your neck you blame it to sitting in front of the computer for too long. Well in reality it could be due more to stress which affects our musculoskeletal system. The muscle becomes tight, resulting in contracting muscles and/or spasms. The best way to relieve this is to exercise, get rid of that stress. Another good way to relieve that stress from your neck and relax those muscles is a massage.
Twitching
Have you noticed that when you are rushing, overloaded or behind schedule your eye starts to twitch? This is called biepharospasm and it’s triggered by stress. It can be very annoying and irritating. The minute you start to feel this, it’s best to close your eyes giving them a break. This allows them to relax and the twitching will stop.
Confusion
When you are stressed you are not focused. Stress causes distraction, makes it difficult to make easy decisions. It is so bad that you can’t make a choice of what to cook, eat, wear or even what street to turn on. At times, you can’t even remember what you were going to do in the first place. When you find yourself in this situation, go for a walk during the day. The exercise will help you get some clarity and the sunlight will help the body release serotonins to improve your mood. Always have vitamin D available, it improves the immune system and perks it right up.
