Vacation in the Florida Keys

There is more to Florida than theme parks; you can also visit the Keys.  The climate of the islands is tropical, here you can lie back, enjoy the sun, beaches and the caressing breezes that delight all.

The blue waters and white sandy beaches will make you forget any problems you may have.

All you will want to do is relax and enjoy yourself. Here you can find any watersport you can think imagine.  You can go snorkeling and diving and enjoy the third longest coral barrier reef in the world.

For those that love fishing, you will have arrived at the Sport fishing capital of the world. The Florida Keys also offer you history, museum, nature and cultural activities. There is always something to do for everyone.  They also host special events throughout the year, such as Art Festivals, concerts, parades and plays. Plus the Keys have an incredible nightlife to end your day with a bang. Your time spent at the Keys will feel like a dream and the memories will last you forever.

ISLAMORADA

It is a small cluster of islands and it is home of one of the largest fleets of charter fishing boats.  It is known as the Sportfishing Capital of the World.  You could spend the day fishing, relaxing on the boat.  You can take a tour bus of the island.  Go on a glass bottomed boat and experience the ocean.  This island has lots to offer and history to share.

DRY TOTUGAS

This island is set in the Gulf of Mexico about 70 miles west of Key West.  Ponce de Leon discovered it in 1513.  It was name Tortugas because he caught over 100 sea turtles there.  This island was used by the pirates from the 1600’s to the 1700’s to attack merchant ships in the Gulf.  This island offers you camping, fishing, bird watching, snorkeling and swimming.  You can also take one of the daily tours given of the Fort.

KEY LARGO

If you drive to the islands from Miami, the first stop you will do is Key Largo.  This is the longest and largest island.  A large portion of the upper part of Key Largo is protected and unsettled land.  It has 6,800 acres of land for endangered American Crocodiles.  The Keys has a living reef that extends its length.  Key Largo is a hot spot for diving; people from all parts of the world are attracted to John Pennekamp Coral Reef Park.

This is the first underwater park in the United States.  You don’t have to worry if you don’t have your gear; they offer every type of diving package there is scuba equipment and lessons.  They also have a botanical park, Dagny Johnson Key Largo, home to crocodiles, butterflies and rare tropical hardwood hammocks.

BAHIA HONDA STATE PARK

Many magazines have stated that the most beautiful beach in Florida is the beach at Bahia Honda; in some cases they have ranked it as one of the best in the world.  The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft and the corals are colorful.  On the parks 524 acres, during spring, you can see more subtropical flowers than anywhere on the Keys.  You can find all types of Ocean birds, blue or white herons, gulls, egrets and pelicans.  They offer all types of activities to make the time go by such as ocean kayaking, charter boat tours and camping.

KEY WEST

This island is loaded with shops, restaurants and attractions for all.  There are cafes on Duval Street, where you can sit outside, enjoy a Margarita and people watch and have one a piece of their famous key lime pie.  This island has a lot of history to offer, you can take one of the train or trolley tours, where the conductor will relate stories.  You can cruise out to the reef from the Key West Harbor and see its beauty.

MARATHON

If you are just looking for a relaxing family vacation then Marathon is the place for you.  It is considered the heart of the keys because it is located right in the middle of the islands.  It has many beautiful parks, great restaurants and some great shopping.  This island has some of the nicest communities, such as Key Colony Beach and Sombrero Beach.  You can visit one of their eco-attractions, turtles or dolphin encounters.

It doesn’t matter which island you choose to visit, one thing will remain the same you will be able to enjoy all that it offers you.  You will get plenty of fun in the sun, enjoy nature and the beaches.  An added bonus will be all the activities it has to offer you, fishing, scuba diving, swimming and shopping.
While you visit these islands you will be able to take in their history.  You will enjoy the stories of treasures lost at sea, the pirates and the natives.

Since it is also known for their eco-environment, you will be able to take visit some of the beautiful parks they have.  You can also enjoy their eco-attractions.
You will get to experience firsthand what many say, that these islands are truly paradise.  This is the islands of dreams.  Many come here to get married, for their honeymoon or just have the dream vacation they always wanted.  The weather will be welcoming and the attractions fun.

Hopefully you will get a chance to drive that long stretch of highway, 127.5 miles of it.  While driving you will be able to enjoy one of the most scenic routes in America and enjoy the stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.

So when you decide to make your trip, make sure to pack plenty of sunscreen, your favorite bathing suits, comfortable walking shoes and sunglasses.  Besides all the pictures and videos you will take to remember your trip, you can always take a few special items with you, seashells, conches or some of their famous key lime juice.  Be ready to have lots of fun, relaxing times and the most memorable vacation every for all.
