Women do not like to be taken advantage of but yet they don’t always take the time to assure themselves that all is in order.
Money is the biggest problem of them all. If you are a married woman, you feel that your husband has taken care of both your futures and to be honest, in some cases that is correct.
But why leave it to the husband? Why not take control of your own future or share in the responsibility? There are stories of couples, married for over 20 or 30 years.
The wife never bothered with anything, whether it was life insurance, investment, mortgages, loans, banking, etc and when the husband passed away they were lost. In some cases they didn’t even know how to write a check or reconcile an account. Well we have come along and women know how to balance a checkbook, pay bills, but how about a little more than that? It’s time for women to take money seriously, take advantage of the tools around them.
Instead of leaving the burden to the man, how about sharing it? Find out what you have for life insurance, health insurance, mortgage, loans, investments, etc. Be prepared for anything and everything, it’s good to know about the money you both earn and share.
RESPONSIBILITY
It’s true that the gap in salaries still exist between men and women. Since this is something women know then it’s time to be more responsible with spending. It’s time to spend less and save more. Many studies have been done where men paid more towards their bills, spent less, saved more. This may or may not be true, but if it is, how does that make you feel? The fact that people believe that women don’t take money seriously and can prove it should upset you.
RETIREMENT PLANS
Women who have access to retirement plans such as 401k do not take advantage of it as men do. Not only that, since women don’t earn as much they have less saved. This is the time to sacrifice a little more. Add more to your pension plan and spend a little less. This is for your future. If you are a single woman, you definitely have to make sure you will be ready for retirement. You may have to be a little more aggressive in your investing.
POVERTY
Not to scare you but if you don’t wake up and start taking control of your financial situation, you may be heading towards a collision course to poverty. Remember, social security is nothing that you want to depend on. If you are a single woman you have to look out for yourself. It’s time to notice the red flags that keep popping up.
